Safety precautions when working with airbags (Opel Insignia A)

1. Inspection, installation and repair work must be performed only by trained specialists.

2. Before working on the airbag system, disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. After disconnecting the battery terminal, the necessary subsequent operations can be carried out without delay. Before connecting the airbag system to external power sources, make sure that there are no people in the car.

3. Before touching the airbags, the mechanic must discharge himself of electrostatic voltage by touching a grounded metal object, such as a water pipe, heating pipe, or beam.

4. The airbag must be installed immediately after removal from the container.

5. When not in use, put the airbag back into the container.

6. It is not permitted to leave airbags in places where third parties can access them.

7. Store removed airbags with the front side facing up.

8. It is not allowed to install airbags that have fallen onto a hard surface or are damaged.

9. Storage and transportation must be carried out in accordance with the instructions for handling explosive materials.
