1. Deactivate the additional passive safety system.

2. Using a screwdriver or similar tool with a total length (b) of 180 mm, make a special tool: bend the end of the tool at a distance (a) of 30 mm by approximately 30°.

3. Lower the steering column and move it to the maximum rear position.

4. Turn the steering wheel to the 3 or 9 o'clock position to access the holes, insert the fabricated tool (1) as shown in the figure and press the spring retainer (2) inward to release the airbag module from the steering wheel.

Installation

2. Align the airbag module spring holders with the steering wheel spring holders (2).

3. Press the airbag module (2) all the way into the steering wheel until the spring clips (3) engage.

4. Activate the additional passive safety system.

5. Perform the disposal procedure, activating the removed airbag if necessary.
