Removing
1. Apply the handbrake, then jack up the front of the vehicle and place it securely on axle stands. Unscrew the fasteners and remove the bottom shield of the engine compartment.
2. On models with Xenon headlights, disconnect the wiring from the vehicle's front pitch sensor (see related section).
3. Unscrew the bolts of the ball joints of the lower arms from the base of the steering knuckles (see chapter 4).
4. Detach the tie rods from the ends of the anti-roll bar (see chapter 7).
5. Unscrew the nuts securing the engine mounts to the subframe and engine brackets (see related section). Where available, remove the shock absorber strut bolts from the frame.
6. Bring the winch to the engine compartment. Attach slings to the engine mounting lugs and raise the winch to bear the weight of the engine.
7. Mark the subframe and underbody with alignment marks.
8. Support the frame with a jack, laying a piece of board between them.
9. Mark the six subframe mounting bolts for their position (they have different lengths and diameters). Gradually loosen and remove the bolts, then lower the subframe on the jack and remove it from under the vehicle.
Installation
10. Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
- A) When installing the frame, use the marks made before removal.
- b) Use new frame mounting bolts.
- V) Tighten all nuts and bolts to the specified torque.
- G) Finally, have a professional check the front wheel alignment (see Chapter 27 and Chapter 3).
