Removing
1. Depress the brake pedal several times to remove the vacuum in the brake booster.
2. Remove the expansion tank from the master cylinder.
3. Place a suitable container under the master cylinder to collect the brake fluid.
4. Designate brake pipelines, unscrew counternuts and disconnect pipelines from the main cylinder. Plug cylinder and piping openings to minimize fluid loss and prevent dirt ingress.
5. Unscrew the nuts and remove the master cylinder from the studs (see illustration). Make sure that brake fluid does not get on the paintwork of the body. In case of contact, wash it off immediately with plenty of cold water.
6. Remove the O-ring from the master cylinder wall and remove the O-rings from the expansion tank ports. They must be replaced with new ones.
Installation
7. Install a new O-ring in the master cylinder wall and new O-rings on the expansion tank ports.
8. Install the master cylinder on the studs and tighten its nuts to the specified torque.
9. Connect to the main cylinder brake pipelines and tighten from a counternut.
10. Install the expansion tank.
11. Bleed the brake system to remove air from it (see relevant chapter).
12. Check the functioning of the brake system and make sure that it is tight and there is no leakage of brake fluid.
