Automatic transmission selector lever rod — adjustment (Opel Omega A)

1. Place the vehicle over the inspection pit.

2. Move the selector lever to the "N" position.

3. Disconnect the rod from the lever on the transmission by releasing the spring clip and the pivot pin.

4. Check that the transmission lever is in the "N" position (third cut on the back).

5. Move the tie rod rearward to push the selector lever forward from the "N" position, then locate the adjustment fork on the transmission lever. Check the alignment of the holes and, if necessary, turn the fork until the holes are aligned correctly.

6. From this position, turn the adjustment fork one full turn clockwise onto the tie rod.

7. Install the spring clip and pivot pin.

8. Check that the selector lever operates correctly. Also check that the inhibitor switches functions correctly. With the selector lever in positions R, D, 2 and 1, the starter should not operate.
