Inhibitor switch — removal and installation (Opel Omega A)

1. Move the selector lever to the "N" position.

2. Disconnect the inhibitor switch connector located on the bulkhead. Cut the strap securing the wiring to the filler pipe.

3. Jack up the front of the car and secure it on axle supports.

4. Release the electrical wiring from the bottom and the bracket on the transmission.

5. Disconnect the coolant pipes from the transmission (photo). Plug the open ends to prevent dust and dirt from entering.

6. Loosen the lock nut from the front connector on the switch. Move the connector to the side.

7. Unscrew the rear bolt. Bend the locking tab and unscrew the nut.

8. Remove the inhibitor switch from the transmission.

9. Installation is in reverse order, however, before tightening the rear bolt, the switch must be properly aligned as follows. Place a steel ruler or piece of rod on the rear washer of the switch shaft. With the transmission in neutral, align the line on the switch with the mark, then tighten the switch to the tightening torque specified in the Specification.
