Installing new tires
Replacement is best done in pairs or as a set, i.e. all four tires at once. Tires must be of the same size, construction, etc.
Tire pressure
Maintaining the prescribed air pressure in tires is a basic prerequisite for comfortable, safe driving and extending their service life.
The pressure is checked on cold tires, including the spare tire, every 2 weeks before any long trip.
Exceeding or non-compliance with permissible pressure standards adversely affects traffic safety, driving performance of the car, reduces driving comfort, increases fuel consumption, and increases rubber wear.
The pressure increased as a result of heating of the tires, do not reduce.
After checking and adjusting the pressure, the valve cap must be firmly screwed on again.
Tire and rim condition
Driving over curbs can lead to hidden defects in tires and rims, which can later cause an accident, especially when driving at high speeds. Therefore curbs should be driven as straight as possible!
When parking the car, the tires of the wheels should not be pressed against the curb. Regularly check the condition of tires and rims. If damage is found or if the rubber wears unusually, contact a service station.
Also systematically check the thickness of the profiled tread pattern. If the front tires wear more than the rear tires, swap them. Always fit wheels with the best tread forward.
Remember, the more tire wear, the greater the risk of aquaplaning (separation of wheels from the road surface while driving).
Summer radial tires
Summer radial tires with a tread depth on all wheels of more than 4 mm are well used in winter conditions.
Tires M + S
Tires of this type guarantee greater vehicle stability. For safety reasons, they should be installed immediately on all wheels.
Anti-skid chains
Are established only on driving wheels. It is recommended to use proven Opel thin chains with links around the entire perimeter and no thicker than 15 mm, including the lock part.
If the wheel covers will touch the chains, it is recommended to remove them.
Snow chains with large links are not suitable for this model. The speed of the vehicle with chains must be no more than 50 km/h. Sections of the road without snow must be overcome at low speed. The use of snow chains on roads without snow, with a hard surface is not recommended. They wear out quickly and can damage tires and bodywork.
