This is a downdraft carburetor. The primary chamber diameter is 35 mm, the secondary 45 mm. The throttle valves of the first and second chambers are mechanically controlled and are actuated sequentially.

The carburetor consists of 3 main parts: cover, body and throttle part made of aluminum by die casting. The 1st chamber is 3 concentric funnels (ventures), which supply the engine with a fuel-air mixture at low and medium loads. At high acceleration and high speeds, the need for a fuel-air mixture is satisfied by connecting the second chamber. The second chamber also uses an air damper, which ensures a smooth transition to the second chamber.
Depending on the version, the carburetor is equipped with a starting automatic or a manual air damper. The starting automatic is controlled by a bimetallic spring, which is heated by a heating element. The float chamber with a float is located in the middle and has a solid float.
Since June 1982, the 1.3-litre engines have been fitted with a Varajet II type carburettor with a manual choke instead of the device dosing additional fuel at start-up.
The fuel filter is located in the fuel supply line of the float housing and is easily accessible for cleaning or replacement.
