Starter replacement (Z10XE, Z10XEP, without air conditioning) (Opel Corsa C)

Note: On cars from year 04 with ESP - after each battery disconnection the steering wheel angle sensor loses its basic setting. It needs to be recalibrated.


Removal



Open the hood.

Disconnect the battery.

Disconnect the ground wire.

Raise the car.

Remove the poly V-belt cover.

Note: On the "ECO" model variant, remove the engine compartment cover at the bottom.


Remove 3 mounting bolts 1.

Remove the clamp (arrow).

Remove the poly V-belt.

Note: Mark the direction of rotation.


Using KM-6131, tighten the poly V-belt tensioner in the direction of the arrow.

Remove the crankshaft poly V-belt from the pulley.

Insert KM-955-21.

Loosen the tension of the poly V-belt tensioner.

Remove the poly V-belt tensioner.

Remove the poly V-belt tensioner.


Remove the poly V-belt tensioner.


Remove screw 2.



Disconnect the catalytic converter monitoring lambda sensor wiring harness connector.

Remove the cable ties.

Unscrew the generator wiring harness 1.

Unscrew 2 nuts.

Unscrew 2 nuts.


Remove the generator.

Unscrew the 2 threaded connections.

Carefully remove the generator by pulling it downwards.

Disconnect the starter wiring harness.

Unscrew 2 nuts 1.

Unscrew 2 nuts 1.


Remove the starter.

Remove the starter.


Unscrew the 2 mounting bolts (arrows).



Installation



Install the starter.

Tighten the 2 mounting bolts to 25 Nm.

Secure the starter wiring harness.

Tighten the 2 nuts.

Install the generator.

Tighten 2 threaded connections to 35 Nm.

Attach the generator wiring harness.

Tighten the 2 nuts.

Connect the catalytic converter monitoring lambda sensor wiring harness connector.

Install cable ties.

Install the poly V-belt tensioner.

Tighten the screw to 20 Nm.

Install the poly V-belt.

Note: Observe the direction of rotation and installation position.


Tighten the poly V-belt tensioner using KM-6131.

Remove KM-955-2.

Loosen the tension of the poly V-belt tensioner.

Install the poly V-belt cover.

Note: On the "ECO" model variant, install the engine compartment cover at the bottom.

Install the clamp.

Lower the car.

Connect the battery.

Close the hood.

Program volatile memory.
