Some model ranges can be equipped with emergency running features as an option («Run-Flat-Tyres»). Thanks to the reinforced sidewalls, they make it possible to continue driving unrestricted in the event of an accident. Crash tires are in no way inferior to conventional tires in terms of their dynamic properties in motion. In a deflated state, handling and driving performance change, and the braking distance lengthens.
The conditions for applying Run-Flat-Tires are:
- electronic sustainability program (ESP);
- tire pressure monitoring system (DDS);
- tire pressure display system (TPMS).
Because due to the design features and driving comfort, a tire puncture under certain circumstances could go unnoticed.
With flat tires, further driving is possible at a speed of max. 80 mph for up to 80 km. Crash tires, depending on the tire manufacturer, can be identified by the ROF or SSR designation on the tire sidewall. They are only possible in combination with light-alloy rims approved by Opel, this rule also applies to winter tyres.
Note. Under maintenance conditions, the installation of such tires is possible using commercially available tire installation tools.
Note. Vehicles with the Z17DTH engine use 5-hole rims, while models with all other engines are equipped with 4-hole rims.
Note. The Combo CNG model is equipped with a tire inflation system instead of an emergency wheel.
Note. Vehicles with the Z17DTH engine use 5-hole rims, while models with all other engines are equipped with 4-hole rims.
