The gearshift mechanism requires adjustment in case individual gears are not engaged, when the clutch is engaged, the selected gear «jumps off» or if its elements were replaced. All gears should be easily engaged both when the car is stationary and when the engine is running and the clutch pedal is depressed.
Components of the shift drive mechanism
1. Set manual transmission to neutral position. Jack up the car and place it on jack stands.
2. Turn out a bolt of fastening of a rod of the lever of a gear change.

3. Turn out a stopper from an adjusting aperture of a cover of the mechanism of a gear change of manual transmission.

4. Turn the stem to the left so that the OPEL-KM-527-A tool can be inserted into the adjustment hole as far as it will go. Instead of the specified tool, you can enter a drill with a diameter of 5 mm.
On cars from 09.1995, there is a pin with a spring in the indicated place. Have an assistant push in and hold the indicated pin.
5. Disconnect a cover of the lever of a gear change and throw away it upwards.
6. Move the shift lever in the neutral position to the left so that the holes in the shift lever bar and in the lever housing are aligned.
7. In this position, tighten the clamp with force 15 Nm.
8. Remove the KM-527-A tool and close the adjusting hole with a new plug.
9. Lower a cover of the mechanism of a gear change and fix it.
10. Lower the vehicle to the ground.
11. Turn on all gears in turn, if there are difficulties, repeat the adjustment.
12. Drive the vehicle and check for ease of shifting and re-adjust if necessary.
