General information and precautions (Opel Corsa B)

            0

Before servicing components of on-board electrical systems, familiarize yourself with the safety requirements for working with electrical devices.

The vehicle is equipped with a 12-volt on-board power supply system with negative grounding. Power is supplied to lighting fixtures and other consumers from a lead-acid battery, which is recharged by an alternator.

This Chapter describes the repair and maintenance procedures for electrical components installed on the vehicle that are not directly related to engine operation. Information on servicing components such as the battery, distributor, alternator, and starter is provided in Chapter Engine electrical systems.

Before servicing on-board electrical components, to avoid electrical shock or fire from an accidental short circuit, disconnect the negative battery cable. Regularly inspect the condition of the wiring harnesses and the reliability of their fastening in intermediate clamps, clamps and strapping. Make sure that the insulation of the wires does not rub off when in contact with components located next to the harness.

If your car stereo system is equipped with a security code, make sure you have the correct combination to activate the audio system before disconnecting the battery!
