Removing
1. Remove the gearbox (Chapter 7A).
2. Mark the position of the clutch on the flywheel.
3. Gradually, making ½ turn at a time, unscrew the bolts in a cross pattern.
4. Remove the clutch, paying attention to the orientation of the friction disc.
Examination
Attention! When removing the power unit, it is recommended to change the entire clutch together with the release bearing, regardless of their condition.
5. Carefully clean the clutch.
6. Check wear of friction linings. Replacement of the lining in case of detection of traces of oil on them, signs of deformation, cracks, slip marks.
7. Check the condition of the splines of the friction disc hub, springs, integrity of the rivets.
8. If traces of oil are found on the friction disc, find the cause and eliminate it before installing a new disc. First of all, check the condition of the crankshaft oil seal and the seal at the junction of the pan.
9. Check the condition of the pressure plate, check the strength of the rivets by shaking the disc. If signs of overheating are visible (bluish tint) or the diaphragm spring is weak, replace the clutch.
10. Check up a condition of ground surfaces of a pressure disk and a flywheel. Minor defects grind, in case of severe damage, replace the part.
11. Check the condition of the release bearing, its freedom of rotation. If any defects are found (bearing seizing, increased play, etc.) replace the bearing. Remove the slave cylinder and check its condition. Replace cylinder if leaks are found.
Installation
12. Thoroughly clean flywheel and clutch surfaces.
13. Install the friction disc with the hub facing away from the flywheel (see photo). As a rule, the inscription is applied on the outer side of the disk "Getriebesite" ("towards the gearbox")
14. Holding the friction disc, place the clutch basket, aligning the marks (if a removed disk is installed). Tighten the bolts by hand.
15. Center the friction disc with a drift.
16. Evenly, in several steps, tighten the clutch mounting bolts to the specified torque.
17. Install the gearbox.
