2. Drain the transmission fluid.
3. Remove the battery and tray.
4. Remove the front and intermediate exhaust pipes, remove the catalytic converter
5. Remove the axle shafts (Chapter 8).
6. Raise the engine and remove the front subframe (Chapter 10).
7. Disconnect the transmission cable and the fluid level indicator hose. Mark and disconnect the wires from the transmission.
8. Raise the transmission with a jack dolly.
9. Unscrew the 3 bolts securing the right transmission support to the cylinder block (see photo).

10. Unscrew the 5 mounting bolts (on 2.0L models there are six bolts) left support to transmission housing (see photo).

11. Identify the transmission fluid cooler hoses, pry and remove the clamps and disconnect the hoses (see photo).

12. Loosen the bolts and remove the front support of the power unit.
13. Lower the powertrain until the transmission is approximately 50 mm clear of the mounts.
14. Remove the rubber plugs on the sump/cylinder block flange and unscrew the accessible torque converter mounting bolt(s). Rotate the crankshaft and unscrew all the bolts one by one. Move the torque converter toward the transmission.
15. Remove the transmission to engine mounting bolts, including the 2 oil pan to transmission mounting bolts (when assembling, these bolts should be screwed in place).
16. Make sure all necessary parts are disconnected and cannot interfere with transmission removal.
17. Carefully slide the transmission on the carriage and remove it from the guide pins. Roll out the carriage with the transmission, holding the torque converter. Remove the guide pins.
18. The transmission is installed in the reverse order. Replace all gaskets and seals of the disassembled connections, as well as the torque converter mounting bolts.
