2. Drain the transmission fluid.
3. Remove the battery and tray.
4. Remove the front and intermediate exhaust pipes, remove the catalytic converter
5. Remove axle shafts (Chapter 8).
6. Hang the engine and remove the front subframe (Chapter 10).
7. Disconnect the cable from the transmission, disconnect the branch pipe of the fluid level indicator. Label and disconnect the wires from the transmission.
8. Hang the transmission with a trolley jack.
9. Turn away 3 bolts of fastening of the right support of transmission to the block of cylinders (see photo).
10. Turn away 5 bolts of fastening (on 2.0L models, six bolts) left support to the transmission housing (see photo).
7.10. Bolts of fastening of the left support to the transmission housing
1. Bolts for fastening the bracket to the support
2. Bolts of fastening of a support to a case of transmission
11. Label the transmission fluid cooling hoses, pry and remove the clamps and disconnect the hoses (see photo).
7.11a Transmission fluid cooling hoses (1.6 L models)
1. Tip
2. Spring clamp
3. Fitting on the transmission
7.11b Transmission fluid cooling hoses (1.8 and 2.0 L models)
1. Hose end
2. Spring clamp
3. Tube fitting
4. Fitting on the transmission
12. Turn away bolts and remove a forward support of the power unit.
13. Lower the power unit so that the transmission moves away from the mounts by about 50 mm.
14. Remove the rubber plugs on the sump / cylinder block flange and unscrew the accessible bolts (or bolt) torque converter mountings. Turning the crankshaft, turn off all the bolts one by one. Move the torque converter towards the transmission.
15. Remove the bolts securing the transmission to the engine, including 2 bolts securing the pan to the transmission (during assembly, these bolts must be screwed in place).
16. Make sure that all necessary parts are disconnected and cannot interfere with the removal of the transmission.
17. Carefully shift the transmission on the trolley and remove from the drive pins. Roll out the transmission cart while holding the torque converter. Take out the guide pins.
18. Installation of transmission is carried out upside-down. Replace all gaskets and seals of the disassembled joints, as well as the bolts securing the torque converter.
