2. Lubricate the valve stems with fresh engine oil and install the valves into their respective guides on the cylinder head, following the original installation order (see photo) New valves should be installed in the seats to which they were lapped.
3. Install the spring onto the support washer and spring plate.

4. Compress the springs with the tool and insert the crackers into the groove on the valve stem (see photo).
5. After installing all the valves, turn the cylinder head over and seat the valve mechanism parts with light hammer blows through a wooden spacer on the valve stems.
6. On single-shaft 1.6L engines, install the tappets, hydraulic tappets and thrust washers, install the cylinder head on the engine.
7. On twin-shaft engines, install the cylinder head onto the engine, install the hydraulic lifters and both camshafts.
