Engines 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8 liters
Withdrawal
1. Disconnect the battery from the ground.
2. Put the car on the handbrake, raise the front of the car and place it on stands.
3. Drain the engine oil.
4. Disconnect from a collector an exhaust pipe.
5. Disconnect the connector from the oil level sensor in the sump.
6. Turn away bolts of fastening of a flange of the pallet to a check point case.
7. Remove rubber plugs (see photo), covering the bolts of the pallet (see photo).
8. Gradually and evenly turn away bolts and nuts of the oil pallet. Open the pan seal with palm strokes, lower the pan and remove it from under the car. Unscrew the bolts and remove the oil receiver with the coarse filter. Wash the filter in solvent. Replace the filter if heavily soiled with tar deposits.
Installation
9. Clean the split planes of the sump and cylinder block from the remnants of the seal, then wipe clean the sump and the internal surfaces of the engine.
10. Install the oil receiver with a new gasket and tighten the bolts (see photo).
11. On 1.4 and 1.6 liter engines, apply sealant to the joints with the oil pump housing and rear main bearing cap (see photo), lay a new gasket on the poodon.
12. On 1.8 liter engines, apply a 2.5 mm bead of sealant to the sealing surfaces of the sump (buy sealant at OPEL car service). Near the cover of the 5th main bearing, increase the diameter of the roller to 3.5 mm (see photo).
13. Install the sump, evenly, in a diagonal sequence, tighten the sump bolts to the specified torque. Install the bolt caps (see photo).
14. Install the removed parts.
15. Disconnect the battery from the mass, put the car on the handbrake, raise the front of the car and install it on stands.
16. Drain the engine oil.
17. Disconnect from a collector an exhaust pipe.
18. Disconnect the connector from the oil level sensor in the sump, remove the bracket and push the sensor connector into the sump.
19. Turn away bolts and remove the bottom section of the pallet.
20. Remove the upper pan section by doing the following.
A. Remove the oil filter (which, when assembling, replace).
B. On models with a manual transmission, disconnect the right axle shaft from the differential and remove the axle shaft flange.
B. Remove the bolts securing the oil pan to the transaxle case, the bolts securing the oil pump pipe to the main bearing cap frame and to the pump.
D. Loosen the remaining bolts and remove the top section, pry open the seal if necessary.
21. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Remove and install the oil level sensor. Replace all gaskets and seals of disassembled joints. Tighten bottom section bolts in 2 steps (see technical data).
