Removal and installation windshield washer system components (Opel Astra G)

Washer fluid reservoir



1. Remove the front bumper (see Chapter Body).

2. Loosen the mounting screws and remove the left front wheel arch protection liner (see Chapter Body).

3. The reservoir is installed behind the inner section of the bumper. Place a drain pan under the reservoir.

4. Disconnect the electrical wiring from the washer fluid supply pump and move the connector to the side.

5. Disconnect the hose from the pump and drain the remaining liquid into the prepared container.

6. On models equipped with a multifunctional display, disconnect the wiring from the washer fluid level sensor.

7. On models equipped with headlight lens washers, disconnect the wiring and hose from the auxiliary pump in the tank.

8. Disconnect the filler neck from the tank.

9. Release the wiring harnesses from the intermediate fasteners on the tank body.

10. Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the tank from its mounting place under the bumper.

11. Installation is carried out in reverse order.



Washer fluid supply pump



1. Remove the front bumper (see Chapter Body).

2. Loosen the mounting screws and remove the left front wheel arch protection liner (see Chapter Body).

3. Place a drain container under the pump.

4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the top of the pump and set it aside.

5. Disconnect the hose from the pump and drain the liquid into the prepared container.

6. Pull up to release the pump from the rubber bushing in the washer fluid reservoir body.

7. If necessary, remove the bushing.

8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Finally, fill the reservoir with fresh coolant (see Chapter Routine maintenance).

Windshield washer fluid nozzles



1. Remove the rubber seal from the top edge of the engine compartment bulkhead. Remove the plastic grille from the reflector plate under the windshield.

2. Disconnect the hose from the washer fluid supply nozzles secured in the reflector plate.

3. Using a screwdriver, carefully pry up the plastic clips and pull down to release the nozzle from the reflector plate.

Rear window washer fluid nozzle



1. On hatchback models, carefully prying with a small screwdriver, release the nozzle (1) from the hole in the base of the antenna (2) of the radio receiver.

2. On station wagon models insert a small screwdriver into the gap between the nozzle and the rubber seal. Press the clips and remove the nozzle from the door frame.

3. On zafira models remove the upper panel of the inner trim of the rear door, then, using a screwdriver, remove the washer fluid supply nozzle.

4. Disconnect the hose from the nozzle.

5. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

Headlight lens washer fluid nozzles



1. Remove the front bumper (see Chapter Body).



2. Release the lock and remove the nozzle from the bumper.

3. If necessary, remove the adapter nozzle from the injector.

4. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
