Removal and installation trunk lid components (Opel Astra G)

Pen



1. Remove the luggage compartment lid (see Removal and installation the trunk lid (sedan models)) and the cylinder of its lock (see below in this Section).

2. Loosen the two fastening nuts and remove the handle from the outside of the lid - note that the same nuts are also used to fasten the lock assembly elements installed on the inside of the lid.

3. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

Lock



1. Follow the procedures described above (see Pen, p.1).

2. Remove the two mounting bolts and remove the lock from the trunk lid.

3. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. If necessary, adjust the position of the striker of the lock, achieving proper operation of the latter.

Lock cylinder



1. Open the trunk lid completely.

2. Remove the four mounting screws and remove the lock cylinder cover.

3. Loosen the two mounting nuts and remove the lock cylinder, disconnecting the control rods along the way - note that the same nuts are used to secure the handle installed on the outside of the luggage compartment lid.

4. Spare parts for the lock cylinder are not supplied to the market - in case of failure, the cylinder must be replaced as an assembly.

5. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

Castle striker



The striker is bolted to the lower body panel.

1. To gain access to the striker mounting bolt, unscrew the mounting screws, release the fasteners and remove the rear decorative panel.

2. Before removing the striker, mark its installation position.

3. Unscrew the mounting bolt and remove the striker.

4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. If necessary, adjust the position of the striker, achieving adequate placement of the cover in the opening of the luggage compartment with normal operation of the lock.
