Removal and installation tailgate components (Opel Astra G)

Telescopic racks

1. Open the tailgate fully and ask an assistant to hold it.

2. Using a screwdriver, release the spring clips and detach the pillars from the door hinges (see illustration Tailgate Installation Details (hatchback and Station Wagon models)).

3. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

Lock

1. With the door open, remove the lower section of the trim panel (see Removal and installation of interior trim panels).

2. Release the plastic retainer through the hole in the inner door panel and disconnect the lock control rod.

3. Remove the mounting screws and remove the lock.

4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order - if necessary, adjust the position of the striker.

Lock cylinder

1. With the door open, remove the lower section of the trim panel (see Removal and installation of interior trim panels).

2. Release the plastic retainer through the hole in the inner door panel and disconnect the lock control rod.



3. Loosen the mounting nuts and remove the lock cylinder from the door.



4. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

Castle striker

The striker of the lock is bolted to the lower panel of the body.



1. If necessary, unscrew the mounting screws and remove the rear decorative panel to provide access to the firing pin mounting screws.



2. Before removing the striker, outline it with a marker.

3. Loosen the mounting screws and remove the striker.

4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. If necessary, adjust the position of the striker.

Pen

1. Open the door and remove the lower section of its interior trim (see Removal and installation of interior trim panels).

2. Remove the two mounting nuts and remove the handle from the door.

3. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
