Single camshaft engine
The distributor consists only of a cover, a rotating cam and a plastic screen mounted on the end of the camshaft housing.
Removing
The order of execution of work, as indicated in the first two paragraphs this section.
Using the Top socket wrench, unscrew the three bolts and separate the distributor cover (together with HV wires) from distributor (pic. 5.11).
Remove the plastic shield from the cam body. The screen is installed using an o-ring located in a groove along the periphery. Loosen its fixation, being careful not to damage the cam itself.
Using a socket wrench, remove the two bolts and remove the rotating cam, leaving the metal rotor sleeve in the housing (pic. 5.12).
Repair
Visually inspect the distributor cap and rotating cam as previously indicated.
Installation
Check the O-ring on the plastic screen and replace if necessary.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Note, however, that the rotating cam can only be installed in one position. If necessary, rotate its bushing so that the screw holes line up with the holes in the rotating cam and camshaft end. Check that the HV wires are properly connected.
Engine with two camshafts
Removing
Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Remove the screws and lift the spark plug cover over the camshaft cover, then disconnect the HV wires from the spark plugs and release the wires from the bracket located on the end side of the camshaft cover. Disconnect the high voltage wire from the coil. Note the location of the wires for later installation.
Using a Torx socket wrench, unscrew the three bolts and remove the distributor cap (together with HV wires) from the distributor.
Disconnect the ignition distributor connector.
Turn away two bolts of fastening of the distributor to a head of the block of cylinders and remove the distributor. Pay attention to that. that the offset pin on the distributor drive engages with the corresponding hole in the end of the camshaft (pic. 5.13 and 5.14).
Repair
There are no spare parts for the distributor on sale and if it fails, it must be replaced entirely. The distributor cap and rotating cam can be visually inspected as described earlier in this section.
Installation
Visually check the condition of the sealing ring on the base of the ignition distributor and, if necessary, replace it.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account that the distributor can be installed in only one position.
