Caution: Before performing any work near the air bag unit, steering column or instrument panel, turn off the SRS to avoid injury from accidental deployment.
1. Remove the airbag module (see Section 12).
2. Place the front wheels in a straight-ahead position and lock the steering column by removing the key from the ignition switch.
3. Disconnect the electrical wiring connector (see accompanying illustration) and using a wrench, unscrew the bolt securing the steering wheel to the column.

Note: If equipped, the wiring harness for the infotainment system remote control switches must also be disconnected.
4. Check the alignment of the marks on the steering wheel and the steering column shaft (see accompanying illustration).

5. Grasp the wheel with your hands on both sides and rock it from side to side to remove it from the shaft splines.
Attention: The use of impacts when removing the steering wheel is not permitted!
6. Before installing the steering wheel, run and clean the threaded connection. Make sure that the car wheels are in a straight position - otherwise, when installing the steering wheel, the contact block of the steering column switches may be damaged.
7. Place the wheel on the steering column shaft so that the wiring connector (see accompanying illustration) entered the groove on the steering wheel, make sure the marks match (see illustration 13.4).

8. Lubricate the new steering wheel mounting bolt with locking compound (for example, Lochte 243), screw it in and tighten it to the required torque (see Specifications).

9. Connect the wiring connectors - ensure that the harness is routed correctly.
10. Install the driver's front airbag module (see Section 12).
11. On a level road, check the correct neutral position of the steering wheel, if necessary, reset it. Check the operation of the horn and remote control (with appropriate equipment) infotainment system.
Note: On models equipped with the ESP system, it is necessary to match the steering wheel angle sensor (see Section 8).
