Fuel mixed into the air by central injection tends to settle on the walls of the four-channel intake manifold, especially when the engine is cold. Heating the intake manifold achieves the transition of fuel droplets into a gaseous state and improves its ignition. Heated coolant (from the "small circuit") is used for heating.
