The anti-jamming mechanism during the automatic closing movement stops the windows and lowers them again if resistance is felt at a distance of approximately 20 cm to 4 mm below the window frame (e.g. clasped hand). To disable the jam protection mechanism (e.g. when running hard due to frost) briefly tap the button of the corresponding switch several times until the window closes in stages.
Comfort switching: With the ignition off and the doors closed or with the driver's door open, all windows open and close as often as desired. But if the open driver's door is closed again, the function of the power windows is blocked from the inside (theft protection)
Passive child safety for the rear windows: this is done by the switch between the left-hand power window switches. Pushing forward - the rear windows are no longer driven by the rear switches. Pushing the switch back - the rear windows are driven by the rear switches.
Closing windows from the outside: To close the windows from the outside, hold the door key in the «close» until the windows are closed.
Faults
Power window motors are dismantled in the same way as mechanical windows. Repair of the electric motor is not provided.
If none of the windows or only the front windows move, check the appropriate fuse.
If only one power window does not work, remove the power window switch and check it.
If the switch is OK, remove the appropriate door trim.
Disconnect the wire connector at the power window motor and check with a test light if there is indeed voltage when the power window is operated.
If no defect has been found so far, the power window motor is faulty.
On the contrary, if there is no voltage on the motor, you need to check the wire along the entire length or the control unit.
Poor glass sliding may be due to jamming of the glass guide in the window.
Temporary roadside assistance
If the power window does not work, you do not need to drive with the window open in the wind and rain:
If the switch is faulty, use a piece of insulated wire to connect the various contacts on the removed multi-pin connector until the glass rises.
If not, disconnect the wire to the motor (there will be no connection to the control unit), lay one auxiliary wire from the battery positive and the second wire from the ground to the electric motor and raise the window.
If the power window motor is blocked, you can detach the window from the power window with the door trim removed, see body chapter.
Now slide the glass up and fix it in this position with a reliable adhesive tape (for example, packaging) or wooden wedge.
