No weld can be so tight that water cannot penetrate it. Therefore, all hollow sections in the car have holes for water drainage. If they are clogged with dirt or anti-corrosion coating, the water that penetrates will not be able to flow out, but will promote corrosion from the inside. Rigid longitudinal body mounts are particularly at risk.
Clean the holes regularly with a pipe cleaner.
In a vehicle with a retractable roof, additionally check the roof drain holes.
