Replacing the water pump (Opel Kadett E)

The water pump is non-disassemblable and cannot be repaired. In case of malfunction, replace the water pump with a new one.

Drain the coolant into a container, disconnect the hoses from the water pump, and disconnect the heater supply hose from the cylinder head.

Loosen the water pump pulley mounting bolts.

Loosen the generator tension bar nut and remove the belt.

Remove the water pump pulley.

Remove the water pump, clean the mating surfaces and install a new pump, installing a new sealing gasket and applying a thin layer of grease to the mating surface to secure it.

Install the water pump pulley.

Place the generator drive belt on the pulleys and adjust its tension.

Connect the hoses to the water pump and fill the system with fluid as directed above.
