Replacing the thermostat (Opel Kadett E)

Loosen the clamp and disconnect the hose from the branch pipe 1 (see picture) water pump.

Loosen the clamp and disconnect the hose from the branch pipe 1 (see picture) water pump.


Drain the coolant into a container.

Using a screwdriver, remove retaining ring 4 from the pump pipe and remove thermostat 3 together with gasket 2.

Install the new thermostat with the arrow on its body facing up.

Apply a thin layer of sealant to the new rubber sealing gasket and place the outlet hose onto the water pump outlet, having first installed the retaining ring.

Add coolant to the expansion tank to the normal level.
