Basic operations performed without removing the engine from the vehicle (Opel Vectra A)

1. The following actions can be performed without removing the engine from the vehicle:

Removal and installation the pressure reducing oil valve (see Chapter 30)
Removal and installation the toothed drive belt and sprockets
Removal and installation the camshaft housing (single overhead camshaft engines)
Removal and installation camshafts
Removal and installation the cylinder head
Removal and installation the pallet
Removal and installation the oil pump
Removal and installation of piston/connecting rod assemblies
Removal and installation the flywheel
Replacing the front crankshaft oil seal
Removal and installation engine/transmission mounting brackets

Note: It is possible to replace the rear crankshaft oil seal with the engine in the vehicle, but this requires special tools and is difficult to do due to lack of work space. For the reasons stated, this operation is described with the engine removed from the vehicle.
