Operating principle
The electric fuel pump takes fuel from the tank, delivers it under pressure of 2.5 kg/cm² through the filter to the fuel line and then to the injectors (each cylinder has one injector). The fuel pressure regulator installed at the end of the fuel line maintains a constant injection pressure and drains excess fuel into the tank, i.e. ensures fuel circulation in the system and prevents the formation of fuel vapors in it.
The amount of fuel injected is determined by the controller depending on the information provided by the sensors measuring the following parameters: volume and temperature of the intake air, crankshaft speed, engine load and coolant temperature. The main parameter determining the fuel dosage is the volume of intake air measured by the air flow meter. The incoming air flow deflects the pressure flap by a certain angle, which is converted by the potentiometer into an electrical signal sent to the controller. The latter determines the amount of fuel required at the given moment for the engine to operate and sends pulses of fuel supply time to the electromagnetic valves of the injectors.
At forced idle speed, as well as when the specified crankshaft rotation speed is exceeded, the fuel supply to the injectors is stopped by the controller commands.
The air supply to the intake manifold during starting, warming up and adjusting the engine idle speed is controlled by the idle speed regulator.

Controller
The controller is installed in a sealed box behind the trim under the instrument panel on the right and is designed to determine the moment and duration of injection depending on the information received from the sensors. The controller also ensures the start and warming up of a cold engine, its operation at forced idle speed and the execution of a self-diagnostic program.

Air flow meter
The air flow meter measures the amount of air entering the engine. A potentiometer mounted on the axis of the pressure flap of the meter sends a signal about the air flow to the controller. An air temperature sensor is built into the meter body.
