F10 Gearbox — Removal (Opel Kadett D)

Remove the drive shaft from the left side of the gearbox housing.

Use a crowbar to push out the drive shaft from the right side of the gearbox.

Caution: Oil will leak out after removing the drive shafts. Therefore, plug the hole immediately (included in the kit).


Immediately hang the drive shafts on the wire, preventing them from bending.

Note: In some cases, the drive shaft cannot be easily removed from the gearbox housing. In this case, it must be knocked out with a flat chisel, which is inserted between the end of the shaft and the bevel final drive. First, unscrew the differential cover, collecting the oil.

Suspend the engine using a standard engine hoist.

Unscrew the engine support bracket at the rear left of the gearbox housing and from the damper block.

In vehicles with dual exhaust pipes, unscrew the muffler bracket or gearbox housing.

Unscrew the gearbox from the engine and the cover from the crankcase and remove them.

Caution: Do not place the unit on the shift fork joint, clutch lever, air bleeder bolt, reversing light switch or speedometer drive.
