The gearbox and differential form a single unit. The unit as a set can be removed without removing the engine. It is also possible to remove only the gearbox or only the differential.
Since it is not recommended to repair the gearbox or differential with improvised means under any circumstances, only the removal of the complete unit is described here. Special tools are used for removal and installation. The F10 unit is installed with a 1.3-liter engine, the F16 unit with 1.6-/1.8-liter engines. The following illustrations describe the F16 unit.
