Removal and installation the gear shift lever (Opel Kadett D)

Removal

Set the shift lever handle to the neutral position.

Unscrew the console from the tunnel.

Remove the rubber cover from the shift lever. Turn the lever upward.



Remove the retaining ring from the groove.

Press the lever to the left and pull it out.



If it is necessary to unscrew the damping element with the lever housing from the body. The polymer casing of the lever is destroyed when the damping element is squeezed out. Use a new one.

Installation

If they were removed, install the lever cover with the damping element and screw it to the body with a force of 20 Nm.



Lubricate the pin, the pivot ball and the surfaces adjacent to the lever housing with plastic grease (OPEL ET No.1946254/90001820).



Secure the shift lever handle to the housing with the ring.



Install the rubber boot on the damper element. The protrusion on the rubber boot points in the direction of travel.

Pull the casing up to the lever tube.

Screw the console.
