A - channel for fresh air under the fairing; B - engine with fan impeller; C - air distributor housing; D - air distributor flap; E - air distribution flap; F - side air distributor hose; F1 - air duct in the instrument panel; F2 - air duct in the instrument panel; G - control device; G1 - control lever; H - heat exchanger

In the OPEL KADETT D, the engine coolant passes through the heater radiator to heat the passenger compartment. The temperature is controlled by mixing cold and hot air in the air distributor housing above the heater radiator. The air mixing flap in the distributor housing is smoothly moved by the left drive lever on the instrument panel. Depending on its position, the incoming fresh air is more or less warm.

Temperature control is smooth and independent of engine speed. The heater is equipped with a two-speed fan.
