Checking the tightness of the power steering (Opel Corsa C)

Open the clamps on the covers and slide the covers towards the steering gear.

Start the engine.

Note: Do not perform this check for more than 5 seconds, otherwise the hydraulic pump may be damaged.

Turn the steering wheel to the stop and hold it in this position for a while. This will raise the pressure to its maximum value.

Check the following elements for leaks:

• steering gear valve housing gear seal ring;
• all hose connections;
• rack sealing rings.

Turn the steering wheel all the way to the other side, hold it in this position for a while and repeat the check.

Put the covers back in place and secure them with clamps.

Note: If there is oil in the steering gear housing and/or boots, replace the steering gear.
