2. Loosen the clamp bolt located at the front of the gear selector shaft, near the engine compartment bulkhead (behind the engine). On some vehicles, access to the clamp bolt is provided from above.
3. In the passenger compartment, remove the gearshift lever boot and secure the lever in neutral by inserting the tool (for example, a 5 mm drill) into the hole in the clamp, which is located in the left part of the base of the lever, and into the corresponding hole under the clamp (see photo).

4. Turn the gear selector shaft against the spring force and lock the shaft by pressing the pin in the gear selector cover on the top of the gearbox housing (see photo).

5. Tighten the clamp bolt in 2 stages (see Technical data).

6. Remove the tool that was holding the lever in place and engage reverse gear (at the same time, the gear selection mechanism is automatically unlocked).
7. Check the reliability of gear engagement by moving the lever to all positions.
