Engines 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8 liters
1. Disconnect the battery from the ground.
2. Remove the upper camshaft belt cover (see below).
3. Turn the crankshaft at the head of the pulley bolt clockwise (when viewed from the right side of the car) until the marks on the camshaft sprockets line up (see photo), while the notch on the crown of the crankshaft pulley must be aligned with the pointer on the lower belt cover (see photo).
2.0L engines
4. Disconnect the battery from the ground.
5. Remove the outer camshaft belt cover (see below).
6. Turn the crankshaft at the head of the pulley bolt clockwise (when viewed from the right side of the car) so that the marks on the camshaft sprockets are facing up and are opposite the corresponding pointers on the rear camshaft belt cover, while the notch on the crown of the crankshaft pulley must be aligned with the pointer on the belt cover (see photo).
