1 - Fixing pin retainer
2 — Pin of fastening of a split finger
3 — Split finger of a pusher
4 - Sensor-switch of the position of the clutch pedal (models with tempostat)
Removing
1. Inside the car, remove the lower trim section on the left side of the instrument panel (see chapter Body).
2. Disconnect the return spring from the clutch pedal. Remove the retainer and remove the pin of fastening to the pedal of the split finger of the pusher of the clutch master cylinder (see illustration The scheme of connecting the pusher of the master cylinder to the clutch pedal).
3. Turn out two bolts of fastening of a basic arm of a pedal to a steering cross-beam.
4. Equipped with speed control system (tempostat) models, disconnect the electrical wiring and remove the pedal position sensor-switch from the bracket (see illustration The scheme of connecting the pusher of the master cylinder to the clutch pedal).
5. Give two nuts of fastening of an arm of a pedal to a bulkhead of an impellent compartment / the main cylinder of coupling.
6. Push the master cylinder studs back so that they do not protrude from the baffle.
7. Carefully remove the pedal assembly and remove it from the passenger compartment.
8. Check the pedal bracket for deformation and damage (the assembly is designed to be easily deformable in order to improve crash safety). Assess the degree of wear of the bushings. Replace failed components. If necessary, the pedal can be removed from the bracket by unscrewing the fixing bolts.
Installation
1. If the pedal assembly has been disassembled, reinstall all removed components - the pedal axle and bushings should be lubricated with universal grease before installation. Connect the return spring and tighten the fasteners securely. Before installing the assembly on the car, check the smoothness of the pedal.
2. Install the pedal assembly on the bulkhead of the engine compartment, - make sure that the split finger of the master cylinder pusher fits on it correctly. Install the bolts securing the assembly to the steering cross member.
3. Pulling on the push rod, push the master cylinder mounting studs through the bulkhead and thread them into the holes in the pedal assembly bracket. Fit new fixing nuts and tighten them to the required torque.
4. Lubricate the axial pin of the split finger of the pusher with universal grease, put it on the clutch pedal and fix it with the fixing pin - make sure that the latch fits securely.
5. Tighten with the required effort the bolts of the pedal to the steering cross member.
6. Connect the return spring.
7. On models equipped with a tempostat, reinstall the clutch pedal position sensor, having previously drowned its fitting. Connect the wiring to the sensor, then fully depress the clutch pedal, pull out the sensor plunger and release the pedal again to self-install the sensor.
8. Establish into place the lower section of furnish of the panel of devices. Before starting the operation of the car, make sure that the clutch is working properly.
