Heater core — removal and installation (Opel Astra F)

To reduce refrigerant loss when disconnecting hoses, you can drain the cooling system or clamp the bulkhead hoses.

Place a suitable container, then disconnect the hoses from the heater core pipes. Let the coolant drain into the container.

Remove the center console as shown in chapter 12.

Carefully disconnect the two pipes at the bottom of the air ducts located in front of the heater housing.



Remove the five bolts securing the bottom heater core cover, then lift the air ducts up so the cover can be removed.







Carefully remove the heater core from the housing (remember that the metal fins are sharp and easily damaged).





Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

Make sure the pipes are securely fastened to the air ducts and the cooling system hoses are connected to the heater pipes.

Fill the cooling system.
