Contents: Door Gasket Care ⬇ Adjusting the door lock system ⬇
The door needs to be dismantled only after it has been damaged. This work requires, firstly, special tools, for example, the KM-298 tool for knocking out the clamping sleeves in the door hinges. Secondly, the condition is the presence of craft skills: it may be necessary to straighten bent door hinges. Further, when installing the so-called "raw door", the following should be taken: (still usable) old door details; this includes, in addition to the trim, the lock drum, door handles, window lifters and glass, window guide rails, etc. Before starting such work, you should consider whether you have sufficient skills and available tools, or whether it is better to entrust this work to a workshop.

Door Gasket Care

Door gaskets in Vectra models require special care, because cracked gaskets are not only leaky, but also contribute to increased wind noise while driving. The best gasket care product is deer fat. It has a pleasant side effect: the gaskets do not freeze to the body in winter.

Adjusting the door lock system

In older models, the rubber door seals could sag, causing knocking, drafts and rainwater penetration.

Mark the location of the lock bracket on the B-pillar with a felt-tip pen.

Loosen the lock stop with a star key by half a turn.

Push the bracket in slightly and tighten.

If the door is new, close it carefully with the lock stop loosened.

Then carefully open the door again and screw the lock stop into this position.
