Vehicle identification (Opel Vectra A)

Modifications are not announced during the manufacturing process of the vehicles, except for major changes. The individual vehicle numbers can be used to identify components that need to be repaired.

When ordering spare parts, always provide as much information as possible. Include the vehicle model, year of manufacture, vehicle identification number and/or engine number.

The vehicle identification plate is riveted to the top of the front panel and contains the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), vehicle weight information, and paint and trim codes.

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is located on the identification plate and is also stamped on the floor panel between the driver's seat and the door sill; under the rug.

The engine number is stamped on a horizontal strip located on the cylinder block on the exhaust manifold side.



In 1995, Opel introduced the "Car Passport". This is a card that is given to the customer when purchasing a car. It contains important information such as the VIN number, key number and radio code. It also contains a special code for diagnostic equipment, so the card must be kept in a safe place, not in the car.
