1. Block the front wheels. Jack up the rear of the car and place it on axle stands. Remove the rear wheel.
2. Remove the drive shaft (see chapter 8).
3. Measure the depth of the oil seal in the final drive housing.
4. Use a screwdriver or bent tool to pry out the oil seal (see illustration), being careful not to damage the contact surface. Remove oil from the surface.
5. Apply a small amount of oil to the sealing lip of the new oil seal. Using a suitable metal tube, install the stuffing box into the crankcase to the previously measured depth.
6. Install the drive shaft (see chapter 8).
7. Install the wheel and lower the vehicle to the ground.
