2. Above the propeller shaft, disconnect the shift rod from the base of the shift lever. To do this, remove the spring clip from one end of the pivot pin and remove the pin.
3. Remove the four bolts securing the shift lever to the suspension (photo).
4. Inside the car, remove the protective cover from the central console (photo). Unscrew it, untie the rope and remove the protective cover.
5. Unscrew the two screws and remove the frame of the central console (photo).
6. Cut the strap securing the rubber membranes to the shift lever. Release the bellows from the bottom plate and shift lever (photo).
7. Raise the shift lever assembly, clamp it in a vise.
8. Remove the two half bushings from the gear lever base.
9. Remove the ring and knock out the gearshift lever with a mallet.
10. Remove the retaining ring from the casing.
11. Use a fine barb to drive the roll pin out of the bias pin tube, then lower the bias pin. Also remove the upper roll pin and limiter bushing.
12. In case of need remove the button of the lever of a gear change.
13. Remove the block of a backing, removing a clamp by means of the lever.
14. Using pliers, remove the spring clip, then remove the tube, o-ring, lock washer, bottom o-ring, and bias pin tube.
15. Remove the cable retainer and spring.
16. Clean all components, check their condition. Replace them as needed.
17. Start assembly by installing the spring to the retainer.
18. Insert the retainer into the offset finger tube.
19. Insert the o-ring with the open groove up, then install the spring clip and top o-ring.
20. Assemble the bias pin tube onto the shift lever tube with the groove toward the lug. Install the retainer.
21. Where used, place an o-ring on the shift lever tube, then insert the reverse gear assembly.
22. Raise the cable lock, attach to the ledge.
23. Install the limiter sleeve, drive in the roll pin. The top, long finger should point to the right.
24. Install bias pin, drive roll pin. Make sure the limiter moves freely.
25. Place retaining ring on shift lever ball, then place assembly in housing.
26. Press the two half bushings into the base of the gear lever.
27. Heat the new shift knob to approximately 70°C, then slide it onto the shift lever.
28. Lubricate the plates and place them in the offset housing.
29. Lubricate the foam pad under the cowling.
30. Place shift lever assembly in vehicle, align bolt holes.
31. Insert and tighten four bolts under the car.
32. Establish a hinge pin of draft of a gear change, fix it with a spring bracket.
33. Install the shift lever rubber membranes using a new belt.
34. Install the center console, frame and protective cover.
35. Lower the car to the ground.
