1. Clean all components, but be careful not to lose the lock pins in the rear support housing.
2. Check the status of each component.
3. Examine gears for excessive wear and chipped teeth. Replace them as needed.
4. Check up a condition of bearings and plugs, replace as required.
5. Replace all seals and six synchronizer rings.
6. Check synchronisers and shift forks for excessive wear. In particular, check the fork ends where they are ground in the grooves of the synchronizer bushings and, if possible, compare them with new forks to determine wear.
7. The total cost of the parts needed to repair a gearbox can be compared to the price of a finished gearbox.
