Removing
1. Apply the handbrake. Jack up the front of the car and support it on axle stands.
2. Unscrew the drain plug, drain the engine oil into a suitable container. Wipe off the plug, install and tighten it.
3. Remove the nuts from the top of both engine mount brackets, remove the bolts securing the engine dampers to the engine mount brackets.
4. Raise the engine approximately 25 mm to provide adequate clearance to remove the sump.
5. Where necessary, disconnect the electrical wiring from the oil level sensor.
6. On models with an oil cooler, remove the oil filter (see section 1), then unscrew the union nuts and disconnect the pipes from the refrigerator.
7. Turn off bolts of the pallet, remove it from the engine. Note that the bolts are of different lengths.
Note: On some models it may be necessary to unscrew the anti-roll bar clips and rotate it down slightly to remove the pan.
8. Remove the rubber and gaskets from the rib of the cylinder block/sump.
9. If necessary, unscrew the oil level sensor from the sump, remove the gasket.
Installation
10. Check that the block and sump surfaces are clean and dry.
11. Apply a suitable sealant (Opel recommends using a GM spec 15 03 294 seal (№ 90 001 851)) in the area of \u200b\u200bcontact of the block with the drive cover and the rear cover of the main bearing.
12. Seal the gaskets in their positions, insert the rubber gaskets into the grooves in the drive chain cover and bearing cap and gasket in the base of the cylinder block. Check that the joints between the gaskets are sealed.
13. Clean the threads of the sump bolts, apply a suitable blocking compound (Opel recommends the use of GM specification blocking compound 15 10 177 (№ 90 167 347)).
14. Attach the pallet and tighten the mounting bolts to their original positions. Tighten all bolts by hand, then tighten them in a circle with the tightening torque regulated by the Specification.
15. Connect the electrical wiring to the oil level switch.
16. Lower the engine back into place and tighten the nuts of the engine mounting bracket with the tightening torque regulated by the Specification. Install the motion damper bolts, tighten them with the tightening torque specified in the Specification.
17. Lower the vehicle to the ground and fill the engine with the specified quantity and grade of oil.
