The cross-sectional area of males should be about 16 mm2, ∅ 5 mm, for petrol engines with displacement up to 2.5 l. For diesel and gasoline engines with a working volume of more than 2.5 liters, the cross section of the male must be at least 25 mm2. At the same time, the car «donor» the battery must be charged.
Both batteries must be 12V.
A discharged battery can freeze even at -10°C. A frozen battery must be thawed before connecting the cable.
The discharged battery must be connected to the car's on-board network.
Check the condition of the electrolyte in the discharged battery. Top up with distilled water if necessary.
Arrange cars like this. so that they do not come into contact with metal parts.
Both cars put on the handbrake, transmission in neutral position, automatic transmission in position «R».
Disable all consumers.
Automobile- «donor» should run at idle.
Connect the males in the following sequence.
1. Connect the red cable to the positive of the discharged battery.
2. Connect the other end of the red cable to the battery positive - «donor».
3. Connect the black cable to the negative of the battery - «donor».
4. Connect the other end of the black cable to ground, for example, the cylinder block of a car being started. This will eliminate losses. Under adverse circumstances, when connecting the cable to the minus of a discharged battery, the battery may explode due to the formation of a spark and the release of explosive gas.
Check again that the cables are securely connected so that they do not come into contact with moving parts such as the fan belt, etc.
Attention: The cables must not come into contact with each other, the cables must not come into contact with the ground.
Start the car engine with the dead battery and let it run. When starting, do not keep the starter in the on position for more than 15 seconds, because due to the large current consumption, the pole clamps and cables may heat up. Wait at least 1 minute between launches.
Give the car «donor» work well at idle to avoid damage to the generator due to peak voltages during start-up. If the idle speed drops, give it some gas.
Eliminate open flames from the battery when starting, as combustible gas is released from the battery.
After starting, disconnect the cables in reverse order.
Attention: Failure to follow these rules is dangerous to the health and technical condition of the machine.
