Set the steering gear to the center position.

The exact middle position is reached when the control dimension A is 325 mm.

Insert the control gauge (KM-476) between the end of the transverse rod and the left lug of the steering gear housing (depending on the direction of travel).
Lock the steering wheel in this exact middle position.
Note: The following conditions must be met.

1. The steering shaft clamp bolt must be positioned horizontally (shown on a removed steering gear).
2. The steering wheel should sit on the shaft exactly with its center. The spokes of the wheel are directed diagonally from the center down.

To 1st: When the clamp bolt is in a diagonal position, for example, the pinion is shifted by one tooth of the toothed rack (Error during assembly). The position of the rack must be corrected immediately.
To the 2nd: When the steering wheel deviates from the center position by more than 5° (The clamp bolt must be positioned horizontally), remove the steering wheel and install it correctly on the shaft, see paragraph 14.1.

Loosen the clamps on the left and right rods.
Set the toe-in value (arrow) with the adjusting bolt. The installation value, see paragraph 15.2.
Note: Always install on both tags. The permissible difference in the length of the steering rods is 5 mm. Tighten the clamps on both rods.
Note: Take into account the installation position of the clamps. The clamp clamp and the rod end must lie on opposite sides. The welded nut of the clamp must be on top.
Check the toe-in value again with an optical instrument.
