Removal

1. Remove the center console (see Chapter Body), then move the selector lever to the "P" position.

2. Disconnect the wiring from the mode switches and release the lamp holder from the indicator panel.

3. Using a screwdriver, carefully pry the end of the cable away from the lever hinge. Slide the lock and release the cable from the support bracket in front of the lever.

4. Remove the four mounting screws and remove the lever assembly.

5. Check the unit for signs of wear and damage. Loosen the nut, remove the washer and remove the axle unit. Release the indicator panel mounting clamps, separate the lever unit with the support bracket. A more complete disassembly of the unit is not possible.

Installation

1. If necessary, install a support bracket on the lever assembly. Insert the axle. Install the washer and tighten the mounting nut to the required torque. Secure the indicator panel to the support bracket. Before installing the lever on the vehicle, check the proper functioning of the assembly.

2. Install the lever assembly in its regular place, connect the selector cable. Screw in the mounting bolts and tighten them to the required force.

3. Secure the selector cable with the clamp and connect the cable end to the lever hinge.

4. After checking that the harness is correctly routed, lay the wiring, install the lamp holder on the indicator panel and restore the original wiring connection.

5. Adjust the cable valley (see section Adjusting the gear selection mechanism), then reinstall the center console (see Chapter Body).
