- deformation or damage to the intermediate shaft, play in the cardan joints, damage to the terminal connection of the lower joint with the steering gear shaft;
- deformation or damage to the shaft and steering column housing, damage to the splines connecting the shaft to the steering wheel hub;
- damage to the terminal connection of the upper hinge with the intermediate shaft;
- damage to the steering column adjustment mechanism.
Note. The steering column can be removed as an assembly with or without an ignition switch (depending on the purpose of removing the steering column).
This subsection describes the removal of the steering column without removing the ignition switch.
You will need: keys «at 11», «at 13», flat blade screwdriver, pliers.
1. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «minus» battery.
2. Remove the steering wheel (see Removal and installation of a steering wheel), having previously set it to a position corresponding to rectilinear movement.
3. Remove the steering column cover (see Removal and installation of a casing of a steering column).
4. Remove the steering column switches and their connector (see Replacing paddle shifters).
5. Remove the left lower facing of the panel of devices.
6. Pull out the lock of the ignition switch harness block...
7.... squeeze the latch..
8.... and disconnect the block from the ignition switch.
9. Squeeze the antennae of the harness holder..
10.... remove the holder from the bracket on the steering column..
11.... and remove the bracket.
12. Turn out four bolts of fastening of a steering column to the amplifier of the panel of devices …
Note. This is how the steering column mounting bolts are located.
13.... unscrew the bolt of the terminal connection of the intermediate shaft and the steering gear shaft..
14.... and remove the steering column.
15. Establish the removed details and a steering column in an order, the return to removal.
