The brakes have a double-circuit hydraulic drive, each of the circuits controls the brakes of the diagonal wheels.
Front wheel braking is provided by a single-piston caliper. On some cars, the rear brakes are drum brakes, with automatic adjustment of the gap between the shoes and drums by lengthening the strut.
Zafira models without ABS are equipped with a rear brake metering valve.
Most of the cars in question are equipped with an ABS system. If the system is working properly, the control lamp on the instrument panel goes out after a short period of time required for self-diagnosis. The ABS system is designed to improve the controllability and stability of the car during heavy braking by controlling the pressure in the hydraulic drive line of each wheel. When the system devices are triggered during hard braking, the wheels are braked. ABS consists of wheel speed sensors, an electronic control unit and a valve block.
The ABS devices are mounted between the master cylinder and the wheel brakes. If the ABS indicator lamp on the instrument panel does not go out for a long time, or continues to glow continuously, then contact a car service. It is forbidden to independently repair and adjust the system units
On parts of 1.8 and 2.0 liter vehicles, a TC system is provided for sensor control of the adhesion of the front drive wheels to the road surface (advanced ABS system). In the event of wheel traction (for example, in case of slip) the system provides braking of the front wheels.
