Removing
1. Remove the center console (see chapter Body). Move the selector lever to position «R».
2. Using a flat-blade screwdriver, release the lock and carefully pry the cable end out of the support bracket, then disconnect the cable from the retaining plate at the front of the actuating arm.
3. Remove the battery from the mounting tray (see chapter Engine electrical equipment).
4. At the corresponding complete set release a clamp and accurately separate a cable tip from the AT selector lever. Release the cable sheath from the support bracket.
5. Walk along the entire length of the cable from the transmission and release it from all the provided intermediate clamps, do not remove the rubber bushing from the bulkhead of the engine compartment.
6. Check the condition of the cable - the cable should move freely in the shell.
The cable removed from the vehicle may look and function well, but begin to bind when bent. Replace cable if necessary.
Installation
1. Bring the cable to its regular place, threading it into the bushing in the bulkhead of the engine compartment. Attach the cable to the lever plate.
To facilitate the pulling of the cable through the bushing, pre-lubricate it with soapy water.
2. Pass the end of the cable leading to the transmission into the support bracket and secure the sheath with the retainer. Connect the end of the cable to the lever and (with appropriate equipment) secure it with a retainer.
3. In the car, secure the cable sheath with a retainer and connect the tip to the selector lever pivot.
4. Adjust the cable length (see Gear selector adjustment).
5. Install the center console and other removed components.
