Torque converter shaft seal
1. Remove the transmission (see Removal and installation of AT).
2. Gently slide the torque converter assembly over the shaft - prepare to collect spilled fluid.
3. Try to remember the location and installation procedure of the stuffing box in the pump housing. Carefully prying with a large screwdriver, remove the old oil seal - try not to damage the walls of the seat and the surface of the shaft trunnion.
4. Thoroughly clean the surfaces of the seat and shaft trunnion mating with the oil seal, then carefully press the new oil seal into the seat with sealing lips inside the transmission.
5. Lubricate the gland lips with fresh ATF and carefully slide the torque converter along the shaft into the transmission.
6. Install the transmission in place (see Removal and installation of AT).
